Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to lead engineering activities for plant operations. This individual will be key member of plant leadership team and will help set strategic direction for the plant operations. As an Engineering Manager this individual will lead, coach and develop plant engineering, maintenance and other technical resources. Key accountabilities include, plant capital management, existing asset and infrastructure reliability and management, and brand protection by providing technical leadership in human and food safety and sustainability initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe implementation, installation, startup of capital projects.

  • Recommends to the Plant Manager both short and long-range facility improvements, facility expansions and manufacturing system strategies.
  • Responsible for all capital investments for the plant. This includes scope definition and alignment, resource management, budget and schedule management and external relations.
  • Leads initiatives to improve existing assets and deliver incremental productivity.
  • Develops plans for long range site essential investments to ensure infrastructure integrity.
  • Provides technical leadership for “safe design” for all investments at his or her location.
  • Focus on energy usage reduction and sustainability initiatives for the plant.
  • Maintenance Manager reports directly into this position
  • In this individual’s absence, Maintenance Manager can cover their duties and responsibilities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have direct report responsibilities. At times, may also be required to supervise the daily activities of other employees or contractors working on projects he/she is managing. In addition, the plant maintenance department will report to this position.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • BS Degree in Engineering from four-year College or university required.

 

Experience

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a plant engineer or project engineer or maintenance manager in a manufacturing, environment.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment with an understanding of food plant GMPs, food and human safety requirements, temperature-controlled production environment preferred.
  • Experience managing direct reports preferred.

 

Computer Skills

  • PC literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project and AutoCAD from Autodesk

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Able to organize and lead teams, develop plans and execution strategies.
  • Manage schedules and budgets

Team Effectiveness

  • Must demonstrate excellent people skills, comfortable leading a cross functional team.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to take common sense approach to problem solving.
  • Able to analyze limited data and arrive at appropriate decisions in timely manner

  • Delivers against expected goals. Accomplishes tasks during allotted times and ensures cross functional teams are aligned to meet project goals

  • Communicates effectively at all levels.
