Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Details:

Develop Food Ingredient Life Cycle Assessment Tool

  • Develop a tool to quantify the GHG, water, land use, and avoided fertilizer/pesticide application associated with Amy's annual purchases of organic ingredients.
  • Environmental impact quantification and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research.
  • The objectives of the project are twofold:
    1. To develop a replicable methodology for pulling annual purchase data in BI and systematically grouping ingredients by type.
    2. Researching and identifying the right resources to use as activity factors to quantify the key impact areas (GHG, water, land use, chemical avoidance).
  • Mentorship with the Director of Sustainability.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

EDUCATION

  • Attending four-year college or university to attain Bachelor's degree ideally in Earth Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Economics, LCA or other related fields; or already awarded Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Previously work experience within the Sustainability field is ideal.
  • Working knowledge of LCA and basic principles of GHG accounting.
  • Familiarity with the concept of supply chain impact quantification.
  • Ability to operate independently and drive results despite ambiguity.
  • Previous experience conducting research.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, project leadership, analytical, and reasoning skills.
  • Self-starter and a team player that will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Advanced experience in Excel.

 

SKILLS

 

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on complex topics to plant management and other stakeholders.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Compensation range for the Santa Rosa, CA area:

$17.40-23.00 per hour
