Summary

This position’s primary responsibilities will be purchasing maintenance spare parts, supplies and services. This person is an important resource for the internal maintenance customers and strategic supply chain solutions.

 

This is an onsite position at our plant in Medford, OR.

Schedule: M-F, 8 am to 5 pm. Hours may vary.

Starting salary: $63,900.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Purchase parts and supplies. Communicate with vendors and suppliers for price quotes, purchase agreements and arrange delivery of parts.
  • Using data driven processes, to purchase parts and supplies; track order progress, manage min/max levels, and identify critical spares.
  • Work with Maintenance to optimize inventory investment in the storeroom while continuing to support the daily production needs.
  • Cultivate productive supplier relationships that deliver the highest total value to Amy’s.
  • Partner closely with internal customers to understand and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Ensure compliance of all work activities to Amy’s policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws.
  • Investigate and screen potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements and implement/maintain data driven supplier rating scorecard for existing suppliers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to improve price, delivery, and payment terms. Follow RFP procedures as required by Amy’s.
  • Ability to understand and interpret manuals to ascertain type and specification of parts.
  • Confirm storeroom is properly maintained and secured.
  • Confirm storeroom is organized and cycle counts are completed.
  • Manage document control for all purchases, item reviews, and history. Process invoices.
  • Follow sourcing strategies to ensure a continuous supply of quality, competitively priced parts and services.
  • Follow standards, best practice, and participate in process improvement initiatives. 
  • Must have collaborative relationship with maintenance planner.
  • Support maintenance manager as needed.
  • Manage and direct duties of the inventory clerk(s)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by MRO Manager.
  • Ability to travel as necessary for the role.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance clerk(s) report to this position.

Qualifications and Skills

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:   Bachelor's degree from four-year college/university or equivalent experience in Purchasing, preferably in the manufacturing industry. Two-five years technical level expertise in principles of procurement in a production environment.  Expertise in planning, negotiation/contracting for materials and services. Requires a well-rounded and experienced knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in assigned skill trade area.

 

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 

 

  • MATHEMATICAL / COMPUTER SKILLS:  Ability to analyze and solve basic math and algebraic problems.  Capable of using the computer as a tool: Excel spreadsheets, word processing, CMMS.  MRP experience preferred.

 

  • REASONING ABILITY and CREATIVITY:  Ability to creatively solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Excellent time management and organizational skills.  Proven ability to work in a fast-paced team environment essential, with a high degree of flexibility and tolerance to change.

 

  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 
    • Knowledge of maintenance processes in a manufacturing setting.
    • Ability to organize and manage a large amount of data and experience in multitasking.
    • Able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-moving ever-changing work environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills: able to work with senior management, suppliers, customers and cross functional teams.
    • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
    • Valid U.S Driver’s License and clean driving record.
