Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Regional Accounts, as a member of the Amy’s Leadership Group and the Customer & Consumer Leadership Team, is focused on achieving the family’s vision for the company by supporting and executing People, Planet and Performance strategies on the business.  The Director of Regional Accounts has overall responsibility for providing leadership and direction of the Regional Accounts team that includes Albertsons, Publix, HEB, Meijer, Raleys, Wegmans, Hy-Vee, etc.; developing strong collaborative relationships with strategic customer partners; exhibiting the Amy’s leadership competencies: including selecting, developing and engaging team members; and leading the strategic planning, implementation, and execution of the customer business plans for Amy’s portfolios. The Director will work with their team in partnership with cross functional partners in identifying optimal distribution and promotional strategies, priorities, growth objectives, and ensuring the overall success of the portfolio in these customers.  As an Amy’s face-to-the-customer, they must “live and breathe” the values of the company and demonstrate a commitment to leading with humility and collaboration.  Ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with the ability to coach and mentor team members, who understands how to build high performing teams, and strong collaborative partnerships with customers. 

  • Act consistently with Amy’s values in supporting the Company goals, strategies, and measures, prioritizing our people and our food.
  • Exhibit Amy’s leadership competencies in, among other things, developing, supporting, and engaging team members.
  • Actively participate in Amy’s Leadership Group to support a high performing team culture.
  • Lead the development and execution of Strategic Customer Plan across the various customers for Amy’s Kitchen.
  • Develop and foster key customer relationships elevated above the buyer level to enable strategic partnerships
  • Achieve quarterly and annual gross sales, trade spending and net sales targets by selling approved Amy’s programs.
  • Continuously assess Customer goals and strategies to determine optimal sales plan for Amy’s. Final approval needed from Sr. Director of Sales Strategy & Planning and the Chief Customer & Consumer Officer.
  • Support and coach team through negotiations and key customer agreements that align with Amy’s strategies and financial plan for sustainable growth.
  • Actively communicate and foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional departments including Finance, Sales Strategy & Planning, Supply Chain functions, and Marketing to gain alignment and support for the Customer Plan.
  • Identify and understand customer's needs and customize plans that best meet the customer's strategic direction while optimizing distribution and growth opportunities.
  • Actively participate on the Customer and Consumer Team through collaboration, communication and best practice sharing.
  • Manage travel expenses and company resources in a prudent manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

This position has supervisory duties, managing a team of Regional Sales Managers

The Director is challenged to establish ambitious but achievable sales expectations, grow existing business, and build sustainable business relationships in highly competitive customers, while aligning with the mission and core values of Amy’s within stated profitability goals and the needs of the customers. This requires the ability to inspire the Regional Account team, and to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and motivation to effectively manage relationships, the details of the daily business operations, and long-term strategic customer plan.  The Director must be able to communicate to the customer and within our company in an open and honest, transparent, and authentic way.

 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably a business degree emphasizing sales, marketing or other job-related field or equivalent business experience.
  • 10 or more years recent people and customer management experience preferably in the CPG food sector with 5 or more with top customers in National or Regional channel
  • Incumbent should have thorough knowledge of sales, marketing, planning, business analytics; ability to develop a strategic vision; excellent oral and written communication skills; critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities; a desire to excel and exceptional leadership skills. Travel will be 30%-35% for customer meetings, working with team members, trainings, and sales meetings.

Language & Analytical Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence, and effectively present information in group settings.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Bay area California Compensation Range: $162,400 - $243,600
