This role will allow you to develop essential skills in writing, labor management operations, and process optimization. You will gain hands-on experience in drafting clear and concise procedures, researching industry best practices, and ensuring compliance with labor laws, all while working in a collaborative environment.

Writing & Documentation Skills:

  • Draft clear, concise, and easy-to-follow SOPs, minimizing ambiguity.
  • Structure technical documents, ensuring sections such as purpose, scope, roles, responsibilities, procedures, and compliance requirements are covered.
  • Ensure consistency in document style, tone, and formatting across all SOPs.

Understanding of Labor Management & Operations:

  • Apply basic knowledge of HR and labor compliance, including scheduling laws, overtime regulations, and fair labor standards (e.g., FLSA).
  • Assist in workforce scheduling and optimization, supporting staffing techniques, shift management, and peak-hour planning.
  • Familiarize yourself with the labor structure in quick-service restaurants (QSR), including front-line staff, supervisors, and drive-thru team dynamics.

Research & Analytical Skills:

  • Research industry best practices for labor management and incorporate them into SOPs.
  • Analyze labor efficiency metrics such as labor cost percentage, productivity per hour, and sales per labor hour to recommend improvements.
  • Benchmark against competitors and ensure that all SOPs comply with relevant labor laws.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Conduct interviews with managers, team leads, and employees to document real-world processes.
  • Revise SOPs based on feedback from management and frontline staff.
  • Consider training and onboarding needs when drafting SOPs to ensure effective use in employee training and compliance.

Process Mapping & Documentation Tools:

  • Create process flowcharts, checklists, and diagrams to simplify steps such as shift handovers and labor cost controls.
  • Work with Microsoft Word for documentation and, if applicable, gain exposure to Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Wisetail.
  • Project mentorship with the Manager, Restaurant Support Services.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

It is the responsibility of all employees to uphold the mission of the Amy’s Food Safety and Quality Policy. This includes following all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in all required training.
