Bay area California compensation range: $85,600 - $128,400

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Materials Analyst is responsible for forecasting purchases and inventory levels on all raw materials and packaging within a 24+ month horizon, with approximately $150M per year in purchase volumes committed across ~1,500 items.

 

This involves modeling various demand and supply signals, collaborating with Materials Planners and Strategic Sourcing to project purchases over time, and deriving consequent future inventory positions as relates to target and budget. This role has a direct impact on supply assurance and waste reduction at Amy’s.

 

Additionally, this role is expected to become an expert in related processes and applications and will function as a systems SME for materials planning. To emphasize, this Senior Materials Analyst role requires a continuous improvement mindset, systems thinking, and demonstrated experience with process development, consensus building, and change management.

  • Generate a materials inventory forecast per item/month, represented as volume vs budgets, targets, and capacities, and as coverage vs demands.
  • Generate a materials purchase forecast per item/month, to inform contracting, planting, and harvest decisions, spot buy planning, and cashflow planning.
  • Lead a collaborative process with Materials Planning and Sourcing to:
    • regularly review and realign 24+ month purchase and inventory projections.
    • reflect appropriate safety stock to support demand and supply variability.
    • understand the flow of material and capabilities of vendors.
    • maximize supply assurance while reducing waste.
  • Provide ad-hoc scenario planning & decision support as relates to materials. (i.e., timing of future recipe or blend changes, substitutions and alternates, reconditioning, etc.)
  • Identify and escalate risks to appropriate owners and provide related impact analysis.
  • Publish forecasts, risks, actions, and other current state data to internal customers. Curate these data as needed for historical analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve upon business intelligence reporting as relates to forecasts. Recommend and track relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs),
  • Drive continuous improvement within materials planning, including as a subject matter expert (SME) for systems implementations and enhancements by providing ideas, solutions, and tools to increase efficiency.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year college or university; or four to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 4-7 years in Contract Planning or Materials Planning
  • Knowledge of planning processes and tools, including ERP and MRP applications
  • Expert level competency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and consensus building.
  • Ability to thrive and provide direction in ambiguous situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 

    MATHMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING SKILLS

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify, and correct errors. ensure proper quality controls are in place to avoid future errors.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex issues into simple statements. Proposes solutions to control and manage the issue.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Not applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: An ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle/SAP, ideally as a ‘Super User,’
  • Experience of previous ERP rollouts
  • Experience in Planning software such as Quinitq, Kinaxis, O9, SAP APO, or similar system
  • Experience designing reports in PowerBI or similar applications.
  • APICS, CPIM, or similar certification
  • Lean certification
  • Excellent facilitation and issue resolution skills
  • Project Management Skills
